POKEMON BY APPLAUSE
Collection status: Active, currently owning 31/33
Pokemon by Applause is a line of plushies made in 1998 by an American company called Applause. These plushies were released in different sets of two plushies named "Battle Playset" and individual packages in a transparent plastic Pokeball that you could clip onto your belt or backpack etc. Some of the 33 released Pokemon got both types of release but some just got either of the two (like Gastly only being released as an individual plush). The special thing about these plushies are that some parts of them are made of iridecent fabric that feels bit crusty, but there are couple exceptions where they used some other types of materials instead.

POKEMON BY APPLAUSE #008 WARTORTLE
Source: eBay This guy's belly and tail is made of the iridecent material. And it suffers the same fate as Squirtle, it's flat plush but not as flat as it's pre-evo. This one stays up well because the tail is so big. I think the flatness is because these are bipedal. Rarity: Fairly rare |
POKEMON BY APPLAUSE #010 CATERPIE
Source: Pkmncollectors One of the rarest Applause plushies, tho I've seen quite many for sale after I bought mine (for quite high prices tho). I was lucky enough to get this for reasonable price from a community member. Caterpie's crest, tummy and tail tip are made of the iridecent material. Rarity: Rare |
POKEMON BY APPLAUSE #052 MEOWTH
Source: Local flea market I like the way Meowth looks, even tho its body is almost as flat as Zubat's, so it has troubles staying up on its own. A friend spotted this plush from a local flea market. It has iridecent material in its coin, inside of the ears, tail tip and feet. Rarity: Common |
POKEMON BY APPLAUSE #145 ZAPDOS
Source: eBay Zapdos was my first Applause grail and it did took quite many auctions after I finally got it. I lost about 5 auctions and missed few straight sells, but I guess waiting was good as I got mine for very low price. This one is entirely made out of the stretchy material. Rarity: Very rare |
